Pohutukawa in bloom

The pohutukawa had started to bloom before Christmas, as in the first shot below, but it wasn't until early in the New Year that they were at their best. The remainder of these photos were taken after 5th January when we returned from holiday. The "blaze of red" around Tawa made for an impressive sight.
