At the Main Road shops, Tawa

The day before was cold, wet and miserable and the forecast wasn't too promising for the Saturday morning. 'Spring into Tawa Market Day' was scheduled to proceed regardless of the weather. At least many of the stallholders would've been under shop verandahs and therefore out of the rain. But a grotty day would have kept the punters away (so to speak) and kind of spoiled the occasion.

As it turned out, the day started off somewhat grey with a hint of precipitation in the air (which means it was close to raining), but it did steadily improve. By mid-morning the sun was out and so were the crowds. With virtually no wind (we've had more than one windy Market Day in the past), we really couldn't have asked for much better weather for early spring!

This collection of photos features most of the stalls on the day and many of those who took part in some way (young and old, as well as the crew from the radio station 95.7 The Generator - the life of the party), making this year's Market Day another roaring success.
